JB-Monitor is a leading asbestos consultancy specialising in asbestos surveys, asbestos awareness training and asbestos air monitoring.
With over 20 years experience of asbestos surveying we provide a full range of asbestos services that assist clients with the challenges of managing asbestos-containing materials and meeting their obligations under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 requires Dutyholders to carry out an assessment of their premises for the presence of asbestos-containing materials. This is normally achieved by undertaking an asbestos management survey, and entails a thorough survey of all physically accessible areas of a building. The asbestos surveyors will take samples of materials suspected of containing asbestos, the samples are then brought back to our UKAS accredited laboratory and analysed for the presence of asbestos.
An asbestos survey report is then produced and will include the findings, recommendations and photographs from the asbestos survey. An important section of the report will be the drawings or plans, which will illustrate the location and extent of the asbestos-containing materials.
The regulations also require employers to provide appropriate asbestos related training to any employees who may be exposed to asbestos during the course of their work. Asbestos Awareness Training is a fundamental element of effective asbestos management as it educates people on the health risks associated with exposure to asbestos, where asbestos might be found in a building and how to avoid being exposed to asbestos.
What is Asbestos?
Asbestos is the name used to describe a number of fibrous silicates of which the most common are known as blue, brown and white asbestos. Asbestos was commonly mixed with other materials such as building products to provide heat insulating and fire retardant properties. Breathing in asbestos fibrous can lead to developing lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis.
